Sustainable Fibre Alliance

It takes the hair of at least eight Mongolian goats to make every piece of pure cashmere.

Cruel Cashmere Combing

According to the RSPCA, cashmere is often harvested from goats by using a metal comb with pointed teeth. This is a long, painful process for the animal, resulting in bruising and injuries. Goats have a shorter lifespan in this industry. They’re treated as commodities; once their hair thins and brittles with age they’re killed. We do not support this unethical production of cashmere.

How Sustainable is Our Cashmere?

To show our deep commitment to sustainability, all our cashmere items are certified by the Sustainable Fibre Alliance. A non-profit organisation that encourages responsible and ethical production of cashmere products. The SFA works with and monitors the extended cashmere supply chain, from herders to retailers. Their goal is to promote practises that minimise environmental impact, safeguard herder livelihoods and meet high animal welfare standards. You can wear WoolOvers luxurious cashmere with confidence that you’re helping to promote its ethical and sustainable production.

Why Do We Love Cashmere?

Cashmere is a luxury fibre. It’s lighter, softer, stronger and approximately three times more insulating than sheep wool. It’s also hygroscopic, enabling it to wick moisture from your body and regulate your temperature. Keeping you warm in the cold and cool when it’s hot. Perfect for all seasons.
